I actually don’t really get why SemHan is the more popular ship within Tritan trio bcs for as long as I have watched the show, “Best Team” has always been way closer than canon!HanSem

Is it just because they’re the “bad boy × weak helpless nerd” trope in the eyes of the fandom? Or because they fought more so a romantic dynamic between them is like, something similar to “rivals to lovers”?

HoD Season 3 Episode 11

So when I first watched this scene months ago, I was confused why Semo was trying to hit that one ball thing in particular (and I’m still fairly confused what happened and why it made him completely lose his balance like that, but wtv) and why he and the twins didn’t just get out of the way.

But I rewatched this episode. And... Was he trying to guard/protect Duri?? Because I just noticed that

When Semo stepped over to where the ball was heading, he ended up in front of Duri, which means the ball was indeed going in Duri’s direction.

Duri was also kind of doing that arm-over-face thing, like... yk, the instinctive thing when you’re trying to block something from hitting your head

Ahhh I love protective Semo and I love DulSem... How did I not notice this beforeee?!!!

(Yes, this is specific to OG, because Dingyo isn’t even mentioned in HoD, and Duri’s behavior has mostly changed in the show)

Another little rant abt DingSem, except this time, I’m using DulSem as a reference point/comparation (I’m sorry if that sentence didn’t make sense, I’m kinda getting shittier at English lately)

So, I know I talk a lot about how I hate DingSem because Dingyo kind of ignores Semo’s boundaries and- ykw? Just read my DingSem hate post for a full thing of what I think about them. Okey? Okey.

And yes, I do in fact realize how ironic/hypocritical(?) it is that I hate DingSem so much while I love DulSem, when canonically, Duri blatantly and regularly treats Semo way worse than Dingyo does, and genuinely just disrespects him constantly.

It’s actually not because I hate Dingyo in particular! She’s genuinely fine to me, and she’s a great character overall! I love her dynamic with Yujin or Hana or her other friends! I do!

I simply hate DingSem because it’s heavily implied (I’d even go as far as to say it’s just straight up shown) as canon. You simply cannot deny that. Their relationship is romanticized a whole lot.

Now compare this to canon DulSem: They have never been romanticized. Duri usually ends up getting called out when he treats Semo (or, well, anyone) badly. Semo doesn’t seek Duri’s approval or get upset when Duri’s infatuated with someone else, but he does do these things with Dingyo.

I love toxic dynamics. I love glorifying toxic dynamics too, because fiction is fiction. I just... only like glorifying toxic dynamics if it’s in fan made content.

And that’s it for now.

So, yes. I would’ve very much loved and been as obsessed with DingSem as I am with poly Tritan trio if they hadn’t been so heavily implied to be canon!

It’s similar to how I love talking about ideas where SemOgong/GongSem could become toxic even though they canonically have a very healthy dynamic, but I also complain about Semo’s canon mistreatment from other characters. Bla bla bla.

I think the best DulSem dynamic is when Duri’s a controlling, jealous piece of shit and Semo is his biggest enabler. Actually.

This fandom is so frustrating bcs like. I understand GongSem being a rarepair. But c’mon, how is there so little fan content of polyamorous Tritan Trio?? They are literally the main trio guys!! Why does the majority of fans pick a duo (HanSem/SemHan) and then ignore the other one (Duri)...!!! :(
