Being hyperbolic is just misrepresenting what people are actually saying. So it's not really much of a discussion, is it? You have your belief about why he isn't working, we've established this multiple times. So personally I don't get why the discussion is opened up (by posting anons) again when we all know how it's going to end (ie with no minds changed because surprise surprise, none of us know Tom's reasons no matter how intelligent we think we are)
Hyperbole is often used in sarcasm.
