//this is a heavily censored roleplay blog.
What is the Ministry of Truth (Minitrue)?
Minitrue is a fictional government agency from George Orwell’s 1984 responsible for creating entertainment and propaganda. One the behest of Big Brother, a monolithic (most likely fabricated) dictator, Minitrue retcons history and translates historical texts into Newspeak. It is comprised of:
Records Department (Recdep)
Fiction Department (Ficdep)
Pornography Section (Pornosec)
Tele-programmes Department (Teledep)
Propaganda Department (Propdep)
Research Department (Resdep)
Music Department (Musdep)
What is Newspeak?
Newspeak is a conlang designed to limit the amount of thoughts a person can have. In the canon of 1984, by limiting the words, definitions, and usages, the government can even prevent thoughts of insurrection, disobedience, or simple malfeasance.
Using the previous paragraph as example:
“Newspeak is goodthink. Newspeak crimestops crimethink”
Am I an authoritarian?
No.
Am I a communist?
I am neither a Stalinist nor a Maoist; these have spoiled the image of communism globally. I have read Marx, and this ideal is one worth seeking, but to do so justly and wholly requires conviction and community beyond most social achievement: sabotaged or not.
Why do I roleplay the Ministry of Truth?
To satirize politics, government, nationalism, propaganda, advertisement, and social media.
If it annoys you this was probably intentional, though I do apologize, Minitrue is the ultimate censure, and the benefactor of censorship.
Thoughts on politics?
Due to the shift in the Overton window I am firmly a leftist under current US interpretation of the political stage; however, I lend myself towards a classic understanding of democratic voluntarism, the prototype for both Marxism and the virtuous democratic republic. I think it provides the most pastoral, regional, and complete government to support a country as large as the US, without the devastatingly militant overreach with which we currently operate. But even this philosophy proves fallible, when applied en mass to groups of diverse and potent ideologies.
Today, too many countries call themselves either democratic or republic, and yet are neither. The consolidation of power into authoritarian regimes is on the rise globally: promising aid through philanthropy, which is never received. This hypocrisy and deceit is tantamount criticism…
I simply chose absurdism.
