Thomas Jefferson, original birdwatcher.
As some of you may know, Jefferson used to have a mockingbird named Dick. They would do everything together, play the violin, climb the stairs, eat, nap.
But Thomas loved birds so fucking much.
He even kept observations of area birds in a journal around the white house, and was so enthusiastic about them that he told a friend “children should treat them as a superior being, and you should tell them [the bird] will haunt them if any harm comes to them or their eggs.”
Delay is preferable to error.

Thomas Jefferson's Ten Rules
Thomas Jefferson (1742-1826), 3rd US President, Master of Monticello
Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.
Never trouble another for what you can do yourself.
Never spend money before you have earned it.
Never buy what you don't want because it is cheap.
Pride costs more than hunger, thirst and cold.
We seldom repent of having eaten too little.
Nothing is troublesome that we do willingly.
How much pain the eveils cost us that never happened.
Take things always by the smooth handle.
When angry, count before you speak; if very angry, count a thousand.
