At this point, I realized I had skipped the Davis household, consisting of Aldric, Almeric, and Almeric’s boyfriend Quinten. Aldric is unemployed; Quinten has an office job, and Almeric is pursuing a medical career. When not at the office, all their days basically consist of hanging around the apartment playing videogames, interacting with other tenants, and not rolling any interesting wants. Quinten rolled a want to go swimming, which at least gets them onto a community lot, where possibilities arise, so I went for it.

Once at 94, Almeric and Quinten start rolling date wants. The fact that Aldric will be a third wheel on this date doesn’t bother me even a little. Serves him right for being consistently boring.

So they go to Garden of Eatin’ - and Almeric doesn’t bother changing out of his swimsuit because why would he - where the happy couple get the biggest table to themselves and Aldric sulks in a booth in the back.

“I’ll get the mail, you make the bed?” “Sounds like a plan.”

'I suppose I'll see him in my next meeting, then.' I can only bob my head, swallowing around the lump in my throat. 'Good.' 'Good,' he echoes, almost too fast. His eyes never leave my face. 'I'll see you...around?' 'Yes. I'm around.' How is it possible to sound so stupid in so few words? Unable to stand there any longer, I give Cal one last nod and seize the opportunity to push through the crowded hallway, leaving him in my wake. He doesn't protest or try to follow. Tyton says something behind me, probably a proper good-bye, but I keep walking. He can catch up. When he finally does, I've escaped to one of the wider halls with fewer people and more room to breathe. Tyton all but snickers as he approaches, hands shoved in his pockets. 'Do you two need help speaking or something?' he murmurs as he falls into step beside me.

3rd Wheel Appreciation Post

Things nobody but top quality third wheels can do:

Create a romantic atmosphere

Make the silences actually comfortable

Find an inside joke

BECOME an inside joke

Be there when needed to make them more willing to be mushy

Make them feel like they're alone while they're all mushy, but actually watch them and squeal

Encourage them to kiss

Jokingly make them feel cuter for them to actually become cuter

Be the one they're comfortable with

Be the one they can trust about their relationship

Be the one they can rely on if they have a problem

Be the absolute perfect matchmaker

Not say, 'how dare would they kiss with me there?'

But rather say: 'how dare would they not kiss with me there?'

If you're gonna be a third wheel, be the best fucking one. Be THE third wheel. Nobody can replace you.

Think about Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, Team Free Will from Supernatural, Team 7 from Naruto, Noragami, Soul Eater, every division in Hypnosis Mic, hell even the three Great Greek Gods: Zeus, Poseidon and Hades. They were all famous, and successful works of fiction, beliefs, myths, ideas or whatever they are, they all got somewhere, and they all were trios, not duos.
