You see a wet copy of Rilke’s letter’s to a young poet opened and placed on a typewriter. You see red rope tied around the typewriter. You see a small ceramic bowl, a broken ashtray put together with a tape, placed next to the typewriter. You hear a train of thought from the earplugs next to the typewriter. You hear a strained voice struggling to find words to say what it wants to say, failing to say it, finding new ways to say it. Are you supposed to respond to this voice? Egregna confronts the audience as they walk through the first of three barriers set up on route through CN#3’s exhibition space - two pairs of feet dangling between steps on stairway bordered by vertical rods. The feet to the calf are soaked in vibrant paint, still wet and dripping unto the newspaper laid down underneath. Emphasising the legs, the artists make visible the journey of a long day’s work.
