Fandoms are great. They bring people together around something very beloved. We share things like behind the scenes information, translations, lovely creative works, our own personal insight into things--

--That is, until we disagree on something. Let’s face it, it’s usually over ships. Even in the most non-shippy of canons, we like to trade fire over who we think is schtupping. 

and holy shit, it is stupid.

I’m not gonna preach on the virtues of forbearance and resilience since I do plenty of that offline and I don’t always practice what I preach.

I’ll say this: I look the other way a lot when it comes to ships and theories the fandom loves but I don’t personally agree with; so when someone treads over one of my rare-pairs or a theory I hold near and dear, don’t be surprised if I decide to throw down the gauntlet. 

See something you don’t like? One blogger clogging the tag with their long winded rave about a pairing half the fandom despises? We’ve got the block feature, we’ve got blacklisting via xkit, use it. I swear, it’s like people start shit to be the center of attention for fifteen minutes or something.

oh my god i love it when you never write starters to my female character even though we’re mutualsoh my god did i tell you that i never actually get tired of you when you scream to me about m/m pairings i don’t care about?oh my god that canonly-married character is SO FUCKING GAY! even though he has a daughter! and a wife!

man im just going to not get into the whole omg male supremacy part of yaoi-worship im just going to focus on what i personally found irritating and how that affects and annoys me from my own experiences.

okay so let me tell you cute children a little something: if you roleplay a female character, have fun trying to get replies in with male characters. it’s immediately much more difficult--especially for canon female characters. get ready to get hurt and offended and expect people to leave threads hanging in the dark--

because that’s exactly what’s going to happen.

males are the only thing that matter. there: i said it! for a place so open about females and so “empowering” to females, it’s an awfully male-worship place (just as any other place is). people eat m/m ships up like it’s nobody’s business and honestly, imho, it’s gross as fuck. i’ve been in groups where the yaoi worship was so strong that i was ostracized from rping with my favourite (female) characters. i was grossly pressured by these older people into liking something that i didn’t like--i had to pretend like i was okay with them forcing yaoi-mob mentality into my throat like it’s a hard anime boy dick. it got to the point where i would vomit because ????? ?? it was so disgusting to me ????? how these people made m/m ships out to be (a WHOLE lot of fucking and prostate rubbing).

yaoi is yaoi. homosexual is homosexual. yaoi is a fetishization while homosexual is simply male plus male. i find yaoi absolutely gross. “you don’t like m/m ships? you must be homophobic” no--i’m just uncomfortable by the fact that you’re trying to push a ship onto me. “oh my god you’re such a ship hater!” no i’m not--i simply don’t like it. “OMG OMG OMG this character is SOOOOOO GAY” where in canon do you see that? i get that it’s your original interpretation of the character, but please stop acting so disgusting. sprays with a water bottle--you look thirsty.

i find that trying to get relationships going with female/male characters is insanely difficult. i honestly don’t get why--it’s not as if females are TOTALLY GROSS and ONLY WANT YOUR DICK or something. it’s not as if it’s taboo for gay men to interact with women

     Akane got out of her spinny-chair and pushed it back into the desk and saved her work progress before exiting and turning off the monitors. “Come to think of it, the lounge is running low on snacks... Kagari-kun was complaining earlier,” she said, taking the medium-sized purse and adjusting it onto her shoulders.

     She opened the bag and pulled out a leash. “Stand still--” she fastened the hook onto the collar. “Ginoza-san isn’t here, huh...” A hand ruffled the top of his head a bit roughly--he was used to this sort of handling, though. Akane had walking duty & had to buy snacks for everybody... it’ll take a while, but it’d be worth it. Time to battle Kougami-san in order to get him to stop barking at the men that stare...

    Kougami-san? Oh. He’s a literal dog.

just a fyi-- if i owe you a reply, i haven't dropped it! school has kicked my ass (and muse) really hard recently, sorry about that orz
