BACKSTORY:
born on march 24 on a rainy night, in seattle, daughter of luiza and no father in sight, it seemed fitting that her mother’s screams matched the thunder outside.
from then on, sofia would learn day after day that their solitude wouldn’t change. it was just her and her mother, struggling to make ends meet by the end of each month despite the simple life they already led.
they lived in a small two bedroom apartment, one they could barely afford despite luiza picking up extra shifts at the bar ( as a bartender, which was precisely how she had met sofia’s father ) and pushing herself way too hard.
as such, as soon as she could, sofia started working to help out her mother. the woman was always against it, wanting her daughter to have even the semblance of a normal, happy childhood, one where she could play and run around with other kids her age, but were they really in a position to want that? sofia didn’t think so. from babysitting to walking the neighborhood dogs, she did it all.
their situation wasn’t quite as suffocating after that, but it still wasn’t enough. to make matters worse, her mother fell ill when sofia was 16. hospital bills started to pile up, and the woman’s condition seemed to only get worse instead of better. without her mother’s knowledge, sofia took on less... legal activities in order to gain more money.
it started off with small things, such as delivering suspicious packages to people she didn’t know, but sofia didn’t care. as long as she was making more money and ensuring her mother’s treatment, it was good for her. soon enough, she could be spotted working as a stripper from time to time, once or twice as an escort. she even took on underground fighting for a while, which proved to be a bigger success than she had ever hoped. no one expected the petite girl to be able to hold her own on the ring, let alone get a few punches in, but it sure as hell sold tickets.
she always wondered about who her father was, or what had happened between her parents, why the hell he wasn’t by her mother’s side. whenever she brought up the subject, luiza told her that he had left to protect them. sofia always believed that was what her mother told herself to deal with the heartbreak of his abandomnent, and she never bought it.
it wasn’t until one of her last conversations with her mother that luiza told her the truth about her father. sofia learned that he was a gang member, a special operative for the savages. she got a name and a city: valdez.
not long after that, her mother passed away. a 19 year old sofia then made her way to valdez, deciding to settle down on the violence-driven city in the hopes of finding her father. she did find him, but before she could do anything else, he ended up being killed during a job.
there was nothing in seattle for her, not anymore, but valdez had potential ─ good or bad, she didn’t dwell on it. it intrigued her. so, she stayed in town, got a job as a tatto artist and hasn’t left to this day.
APPEARANCE + PERSONALITY:
first things first, click here to see her pinterest board ( i have a pinterest addiction, nothing new here ).
the pastiche ― someone who is made by the experiences of their lives, coming from different parts that results to what they are now. ( credit )
could very well be the definition of the angry, fighty smol trope. sofia is 5′4 ( 164 cm ) but the heels she is always wearing could fool you into thinking she is at least six inches taller.
has long, black hair that goes down her waist.
she has no affiliation to either of the gangs, despite having been approached by both in the past. she’s testing the waters. as such, for the time being, she is neutral ─ as neutral as one can be, at least. will associate with both with no problems.
sofia loves her job, and prides herself in being damn good at it.
although she’s never officially met her father, she guesses that her personality comes from him more so than her mother. luiza couldn’t hurt a fly; she was a kind woman, too kind in sofia’s opinion. time and time again, she saw the world give her mother nothing but pain and suffering for it. it’s definitely hardened her up a bit.
too headstrong and stubborn for her own good.
when she sets her mind on something, nothing can get in the way. likewise, when she wants something, she stops at nothing to get it.
not about that forgive and forget kind of life. resent and remember is more her pace.
surprisingly loyal, but it’s hard to pinpoint where exactly her loyalty lies.
