This "pluto has been reinstated as a planet" thing is starting to annoy me
1. none of you read that article, i know you didnt. If you're posting about it being reinstated this has already proven that you didn't read it
2. surprise! it hasnt! but hold on because we're going to go deeper
3. Harvard University put up a poll to the general public, who had probably been invited with the words "pluto; a planet?" or words to that effect
4. there was a mediocre defence for the actual relegation to dwarf planet in the first place
5. its not Nasa, its not Esa, and therefore it has no validity. You really think a university has the power to change international standards? Really? I'm a student, does that mean i and my school of 900 students could get together and decide to rename the colour 'red' to 'Darude sandstorm' because if i could i sure as hell would, that shit would be a great laugh.
6. this shit probably* doesn't affect you. (* exceptions include those working in various fields of astrophysics or astronomy)
You know who it does affect? the people who made the decision to change pluto's designation. It makes classifying things easier for us. Boo hoo you lost your precious pluto, well fuck you our work just got a whole lot easier and you're acting like a spoil child whining that your favourite planet isn't one anymore. You haven't been whining about the dozens of other planets also turned to dwarf planets.
7. Leave it to the professionals. They get paid to do this. They've studied for years to do this. They know their shit.
