Easier said than done. Ilya has spent so much of his life keeping things to himself that the mere thought of opening up feels like too much. It feels like displaying an open wound, akin to baring his beating heart to the world. Talking about his feelings has never really ended well. He's supposed to be strong and suffer in silence. That's how his father was. That's how Alexei is. Ilya learned from a young age that you don't talk about things. Not even a little bit. Not even a hint of it.
"I know. Thanks." It sounds cruel and harsh and callous. He doesn't really mean for it to. Shane is trying, isn't he? Trying to bust down the carefully built walls of Ilya Rozanov. Maybe he ought to appreciate it a little bit because no one else has ever tried as hard as Shane.
