دوڑنے کے ایک مقابلے میں افریقی ملک کینیا کی نمائندگی کرنے والے ایتھلیٹ ہابیل مطائی، اختتامی لائن سے صرف چند فٹ کے فاصلے پر تھا، لیکن وہ الجھن کا شکار ہو گیا اور سمجھا کہ اس نے ریس مکمل کر لی ہے۔ اس کے پیچھے آنے والے ہسپانوی کھلاڑی کو اندازہ ہو گیا کہ کیا ہوا ہے، اس نے چلا کر مطائی کو دوڑ مکمل کرنے کا کہا لیکن مطائی ہسپانوی زبان نہ سمجھا تو ہسپانوی کھلاڑی ایون نے اسے فتح یابی کی لکیر کی طرف دھکیل دیا اور یوں مطائی دوڑ کا مقابلہ جیت گیا۔اس بابت ایک صحافی نے ایون سے پوچھا ، "آپ نے ایسا کیوں کیا؟ ایون نے جواب دیا ، "میرا خواب یہ ہے کہ کسی دن ہم سب انسان مشترکہ معاشرتی زندگی گزار سکیں"۔ صحافی نے اصرار کیا "لیکن آپ نے کینیا کے کھلاڑی کو کیوں جیتنے دیا؟" ایون نے جواب دیا ، "میں نے اسے جیتنے نہیں دیا وہ خود جیتنے والا تھا"۔ صحافی نے پھر زور دے کر کہا ، "لیکن آپ جیت سکتے تھے!" ایون نے صحافی کی طرف دیکھا اور جواب دیا ، "لیکن میری ایسی جیت کا اخلاقی طور پر کیا جواز و مقام ہوتا؟ اگر میں اس طرح تمغہ حاصل کر لیتا تو کیا وہ اعزاز ہوتا؟ اور میری ماں میری اس حرکت کی بابت کیا سوچتی؟ میں اپنی ماں کو شرمسار نہیں کر سکتا۔ اخلاقی اقدار نسل در نسل منتقل ہوتی ہیں۔ کیا ہم اپنے بچوں کی کردار سازی کر رہے ہیں؟ ہم اپنے بچوں کو کون سی اقدار کی تعلیم دے رہے ہیں؟ اپنے بچوں کی اپنے کردار و عمل سے تربیت کیجئے۔ انہیں وقت دیجئے ورنہ جو انہیں وقت دے گا وہ انہیں اپنے مطابق ڈھال لے گا

Connor was part of a group of 50 people who through the efforts of the organization This Is About Humanity, traveled by bus to the US-Mexico border. Together, their purpose was to witness, document, and share. In addition, they helped distribute blankets, clothes, and books to three different shelters for people seeking asylum.
