Val De Riva, “Death Flies on Silent Wings”
Not much is known about Viago’s protege, but what is known is enough to make every Crow, even the First Talon, wary.
The young De Riva was taken in after escaping the Circle in Antiva City at just the age of six. Even less is known about her time in the Circle, other than the circulating rumour she had no particular talent as a mage. At least, none the Circle would’ve been willing to nurture. Some saw her talking to the rats as if she could understand them and vice versa. It was here, they think, born out of desperation for Freedom she learned to shapechange on her own. She transformed into a rat and escaped the Circle through the Sewage systems.
Unfortunately there were few options for apostate mages in Antiva- and so she eventually made her way to the Crows and became Viago’s fly on the wall, literally.
Viago uses her talent for shape changing to not only attract high end contracts, but also to spy.
Crows are a chatty bunch, but they all fall silent around the young De Riva. Even within their own house, they can never be certain if the rat scurrying under their feet, or the Crow watching from their window, or the cat on the roof is just that- or Viago’s spy.
It was far too late for Val when she realized she traded stone walls for a long leash.
