Queen's messenger
Billy read the reply from The Creeper; Green Lantern Jordan or Manhunter would be coming for him to take him off the station, presumably with the other children. Thank goodness! He had time to just gather a few things in his room, shoving them into his backpack.
In the drawer of his night stand he found the things Green Arrow had given him: his high-security pass for the Watchtower, and his communicator. Well, actually, Green Arrow had given them to Captain Marvel, right before he said he was leaving for a little while to take a well-needed vacation. Of course, Billy was keeping them safe for him now, and Captain Marvel would return them as soon as Green Arrow was ready to come back.
"What's this?" he asked aloud, even though he was alone. It helped him think, talking to himself, and The Creeper did it all the time, so Billy saw no harm in it. As he picked up the communicator, he'd noticed there was a red light flashing on it. Someone had tried to send GA a text message in the last day or two. "I guess they didn't realize he's on a leave of absence." He debated for a moment whether he should be reading other people's texts, but this was the League, after all, and they had no secrets from one another. Well, he had a pretty big secret he felt a little guilty for, but there wasn't time for that now. Activating the display, the sole message appeared on the screen:
Dearest Queen, the Archer Green
As you see now your life is in danger.
Attacks come from the shadows dark.
But who controls these fangs of razor?
Why do they wish to leave their mark?
We know who demands assassinations.
We know his name, where he resides.
And in return for a simple favor,
We will reveal the head who guides...
Your soul was once close to our grasp,
You somehow managed to escape.
Return to us now and we promise
To save the world and spare the capes.
Make the deal, we’ll keep our word.
We can end this deadly brawl.
Give us your soul and we will join you.
So swears me, so swear us all...
"Holy moley!!" Billy gasped, "I gotta show this to someone, fast!" He slung his bag on his shoulder and ran out of his room, looking for Hal Jordan, or someone...
