Wouldn’t it be sad/ironic/depressing/funny if sometimes, when there are moments when adrien is plagued by memories and is in the perfect state to be akumatized and Gabriel, instead of wanting to prey on such raw negativity, wants to reach for his son and (hold him, love him, cherish him, beg him for forgiveness) he can’t, he sends a butterfly or three to him, not akumatized ones but the one full of life and light and purity and they gather around adrien and sit on his shoulders, his hand, his cheek, his heart and are just there. They don’t cheer him up but they make those horrible feelings go quiet and distant and he doesn’t allow himself to wonder why purified akumas are surrounding him but instead just enjoys it.
(He doesn’t notice that the butterflies he cant see, the ones on his back, when they leave are no longer pure but instead inky black after feeding off of his emotions, taking away his pain and hurt and returning them to his father because what burden should a son face without his father?)
(When he’s chat noir and sitting alone on a ledge, mourning what he has lost and what will never be his, an akuma comes to him but he isn’t afraid, not when they land on his impenetrable suit, inky and forbidding, teaming with despair and lose. He isn’t afraid even as the akuma brushes against his cheek, his skin where it could corrupt him, instead he holds it in his hands, cups it between his palms and closes them around the akuma like a dome, he touched his forehead to the ball his ands make and breathes out. When he finally opens his hands, a white butterfly flutters out, inky black darkness slipping off its wings as it flies away, brushing his hair as it dies. The purified akuma returns to its master, settles down against the man’s shoulders as they slump in quiet guilty relief)
