I just checked, and in the japanese version he says “Daisuki da yo” ( だいすき だ よ)

And no one ever, ever, ever, argued that it wouldn’t be romantic. No one ever argued this arc wasn’t romantic. I’m p sure Hoshino herself said it was a love story.

So the English version of the manga had no excuse for mistranslating Alma’s “Daisuki” ( 大好き ) when the whole goddamn set up was supposed to mirror this scene, thank you for coming to my ted talk
