I have decided to use the dictionary definition of cretin to categorise these fish which is a derogatory term for a stupid person and naturally I have to pick one of the dumbest fish I know

the red lipped batfish. or Galapagos batfish is this morphological monstrosity of a specimen. thing looks like its been stepped on by god and they were like "yea send it out I'm sure its fine." batfish, are not good swimmers like you think a fish would be. instead they use highly adapted pectoral, pelvic and anal fins to walk on the ocean floor. it has a horn at the front of its head (which u can see in the diagram below) that scientists that is used for luring prey. the red lips of the batfish is hypothesized to also be used for luring in prey for the fish to ambush while the rest of its body is camouflaged to look like sand or rocks.. because it can change colour like an octopus. oh also it can detect electrical feilds.
