#not gonna maintag this or anything bc I have opinions .#1. I'm glad everyone is having fun. the variety of the human experience is amazing #2. however. I do have the bloodymary tag blocked. I loved both of these movies and I do find it interesting to think about the similarities #(the stars‚ the whole ''guy being sent to his death for the good of the rest of everyone but it sucks rlly bad for that guy'')#and I understand wanting simon to be happy I 100% get it!!! I want simon to be happy too tbh #but. but I am so tired. I am so tired. I am so tired and aromantic and SO TIRED #and I'm not trying to accuse you specifically of anything anon #but it's feeling like people are just using qprs as a socially acceptable non-allo stand in for romance #which as an aromantic person I see a lot. the moment we identify with a character to the point where its acknowledged as consensus #the conversation always switches over to ''bur aros can still date!'' and ''i ship them as a qpr actually''#and like. especially in ryland grace's case. I feel like a lot of the point of it and the reason for us latching onto him #is that he was valued lesser by the world because he didn't have those connections. *he didn't even have a dog.*#and him being valued as less for being solo was framed in such a way that highlights how fucking terrible it is. to be valued less for that.#and his friendship with rocky means a lot to me because that's IMPORTANT. it's important and it's not romance.#as a concept I find putting simon in phm to be fun and interesting but in practice it takes away from the *point* to me #so yeah no I don't see them as a qpr I don't see them as anything #I'm glad everyone is having fun tho and I do mean that genuinely bc this really cements them as medias with longevity #I just. I see this happen a lot. with majority aromantic spaces talking about the themes and the details and the motifs #and I've been in fandoms where I've literally watched them morph away from that and I feel like that bear surrounded by billboards #and again it's complicated because I am genuinely happy people are having fun and connecting with the media in question #and I love me a silly or indulgent or heart wrenching au do NOT get me wrong #but also as an aro it's hard to exist sometimes. in fandom spaces #sigh #that's a lot sorry. I have more to say on the aromanticism of phm but I'll leave it there
