This Year’s Theme: National Days!
Regardless of how silly, every day has a national item, group, or saying.
Every day I’ll post about one to celebrate with your friends, family, or by yourself!
Next Year’s Theme: History Facts!
"Take What You Want" Corrosion of Conformity
Do More. Be More. See More.
I know it’s a few weeks into 2013 already, but we all know I suck at routines or any sort of schedule so I am sharing my “new year’s resolutions” now.
I don’t really like the term “new year’s resolutions” because of the connotations of being ridiculously unachievable and thus doomed to fail within the month (if not the week) that they are made. I prefer to think of my year having a theme. Sometimes this is decided in hindsight, sometimes mid-way through the year, but this year it is at the start.
So my theme for this year is Do More. Be More. See More.
I have actually been mulling this thought/phrase/theme over for the past few months because a lot of it has been inspired by my experiences here in Denmark.
Because it is more of a theme and less of a hard and fast “resolution” it gives me a lot of scope, which could be both good and bad. I’m going to focus on the good.
So basically what I want to get out of this year with the words Do More. Be More. See. in mind is thus:
Do More:
I have been really inspired by the friends I have made in Denmark and the ones at home to do more with my life and time, particularly in relation to things that will help me shape my future career.
I want to do:
-More volunteering work
-Join clubs at uni
-Get a new job
-Make new friends/expand my social network
-Write more letters, blog posts, novellas etc
-The 50 book challenge
Be More:
Mostly just general self-improvement and betterment of my social relationships.
I want to be:
-Be a better friend- more attentive, compassionate, just there for people. And actually seeing them.
-Be a better sister- Talk to my sister more often. Acutally visit my brother.
-Be a better daughter- Help more at home, try to do my chores weekly and not become belligerent when my mum asks me to clean up my room which I should have already done.
-Be more confident and social in general
-Be a better student
See More:
I have realised coming to Denmark and doing a bit of travelling around Europe that the world is so big, fascinating and exciting in ways that I could never imagine but also so much more accessible to me then most generations before me. Also how little I have seen and know about my own city, state and country.
I want to see:
-More of Melbourne/Victoria/Australia, in general.
-New Zealand
-More of the UK. In particular the places where my new pallies live. And their homes. And faces.
-Canada…but maybe a bit further into the future than this year. I hear it can be quite expensive to go to Canada.
-More gigs/shows/concerts.
-Falls 2014!! Yeye!
-AND…just go on more adventures as a whole. Live life like it is the adventure people say it is and appreciate being young, alive and in the privileged position of having enough disposable income to travel, a car, a driver’s license and so many other things.
What your resolutions/themes/goals for 2013?
