This Cockles Thing

I’m finally sure what This Cockles Thing is about.

It’s not about wishing the end of their marriages.

It’s not about insisting in saying they’re together.

It’s not about searching an innuendo in every gesture they make.

It’s not about spending hours imagining them having sex every night.

It is simply looking at two smiling people and hoping that the person who makes them smile that way loves and care about them and wishing for that person to remain close to them as long as possible.

Doubts

Sometimes, especially after a long session of blog lurking, I find myself in doubt about all the cockles thing.

All I can say is that when you see two kittens playing together you don’t ask yourself if they’re in love...you just want them to keep playing and this warm your heart.

The Cockles Box

There’s a box, and everyone is assuming they know what’s inside.

Because they know how the box sounds once shaken, or how much it’s heavy, or the scent you can smell from outside.

They spend a lot of time talking about that something inside, how it’s bright and lovely and beautiful. Someone told me the box contains something I love, so I started daydreaming about it too. That thing is, in my mind, strong, brave, sweet and daring at the same time.

But this box belongs to someone who never actually showed the inside of the box in public, so even if we smell and analyze and touch it...we won’t be sure until the owner of the box will reveal the truth.

So we’re all daydreaming about what we’d like to see, but it’s just daydreaming. 

Don’t make that face, I’m as disappointed as you.

I’m writing this because I’m not completely ok with my daydreaming. I’ve reblogged many interesting and brilliant ideas about what’s in the box but I wanted to say something myself.
