this earth we call our own

This world we live in

Full of despair, loneliness and confusion

We at conflict with one another

As disasters surround us each day

We are of the same making

And yet we sit and watch as families are destroyed, and loved ones taken away

Does this land not have enough space for everyone?

Are we short of what each can take?

 This earth that is home to the living

Displays character and resilience

Gives hope and it gives joy

It continually surprises each day

It provides, it nurtures, and it rejuvenates

This earth is loyal

 Why do we pollute our thoughts and the space in which we exist?

Surely this was not the divine plan for us, was it?

 We got earthquakes and floods, famine and wars

And yet we choose to detach and claim no blame

Shouldn’t we choose to unite instead?

Why do we divide ourselves when disasters affect us the same?

Why is there so much hatred in our hearts?

Why do we cry for this earth and do nothing to change our ways?

 A new year we seek

A new begin we promise ourselves

But are we simply lying to self?

What does the world got to say for us to stay true to our being?
