I don't know the name of this plant or the flowers its producing. I don't have a green thumb and I suck at gardening. It was suggested to me to get some plants and water them daily as a new hobby, and while it was a nice suggestion, this foray into the world of plants has been equally frustrating and educational. Case in point - this fucker. I'll call it a cactus because it's prickly and drew blood on more than one occasion. I watered this fucker from August 20, 2018 until now, not expecting anything to happen really, and now it has flowers (I don't even know if I'm using the correct terminology). Quite pretty, actually, and one year in the making. So, take what you will from my story. Maybe the take away is "we all blossom on our own time." Or maybe its "even a shitty beginning wrought in bloodshed and violence can bloom into beauty." Or maybe it's "if you fight for your dreams, your dreams will fight for you." I'd like to think it's as simple as "keep watering the fucker, even when it pricks you, even when it makes you mad, because one day it'll all be worth it."
