#7 Discrepancy – Revelation
How appropriate for us that the last time we see the word gospel it’s in the last book of the Bible.
Up until now, humans were the preachers of any gospel message that was being communicated, but in the Book of the Revelation we see an amazing prophecy where an angel will be flying in the sky, preaching the everlasting gospel. Read the following verses and see if you can pick out the definers of this gospel.
Rev 14:6-7 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, 7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
Notice this gospel is preached to every nation, kindred, tongue and people who remain on the earth. Going back a few verses in this passage will prove that God’s remnant Israel, the 144,000 sealed Israelites, have been secured in heaven. The people that are left are Gentiles. What is the angel proclaiming in a loud voice? Fear and judgment! Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come. Reading on in Revelation you’ll find two more angels fly overhead with warnings of wrath and endless torment for those who align themselves with the anti-christ.
To say this will be a difficult time on the earth is a huge understatement. I can’t even fathom what is on the horizon for those people who will be living at this time. Thankfully, we don’t worry and fret over such future judgment and wrath. God has not given us a spirit of fear, (2 Tim 1:7), but of power and love and sound mind. Jesus took our punishment, judgment and God’s wrath upon himself and paid the ultimate price in our place at the cross. We are the righteousness of God in him, (2 Cor 5:21).
Now to him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith: To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen. Romans 16:25-27
