LIST OF YOUR FAVORITE CONMEN AND/OR ROGUES GO GO GO
I want to frame this question on my wall.
1. Cassidy, Preacher. More an emotional con man than anything else, the guy who takes advantage and suckers you in to thinking he’s your best buddy, someone you can trust. And he means it. He really wants to be all those things. But going along with him is a terrible idea.
2. Moist Von Lipwig, Going Postal. Moist is like—yeah, no, it’s like Terry Pratchett sat down and decided to create a character that would make me, specifically, weak in the knees. Generally good-hearted, but so in love with the game and the rush that he’ll never be 100% rehabilitated. And thank God for that.
3. Maeby, Arrested Development. She’s what happens when a smart kid is surrounded by myopic idiots for her entire life; exploiting people comes as easily as breathing to her. It’s never particularly mean-spirited, though, I always get the impression that most of her schemes are just to stave off boredom. Also, she never learns her lesson. Ever. She’s juuust too fast for the consequences to catch up with her, and it’s a thing of beauty.
4. Spike, Cowboy Bebop. I’ve always thought of Spike as kind of a deconstruction of the gunslinging rogue archetype, honestly. He’s got such a light touch, drifts everywhere, gives the impression of not taking anyone or anything seriously—and it’s a front. I mean, yeah, part of that is pure Spike, but it’s a defense mechanism more than anything, keeping him a step ahead of the sucking blue pit that’s always dragging at his ankles, threatening to suffocate him in his past. He’s the cautionary tale for this kind of character: one day, it’s all going to come back around.
5. Han Solo, Star Wars. Look, I’m not saying that he’s the reason the conman/charming rogue is a Thing, for me, but I wouldn’t rule out the possibility. I mean. He’s Han Solo, for God’s sake, and I ran into him at the perfect age to imprint on his whole shitck like a baby bird.

that *is* pretty cool! And I named my Riou Odessa so it works. Or something. It’s also a better photoshoot spot than a sewer. Though maybe the subway would get some of the Lenankamp vibe? idk.
YOU ARE STILL TERRIBLE FOR THAT. <3 And we might be able to get some subway pics, but we'd have to bring in an external source of light for that which I thiiiiink requires permits? It's a lot of hassle, basically.

You’re “close to a park with the castle”? What the fuck, NYC.
What can I say, this city has its perks. :D

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THOSE COSTUMES AAAHHHH. It looks like we'll have a pretty decent-sized Kenshin group at Otakon, too! Hopefully we'll have a decent photographer on hand to capture the resulting antics.
