and everyone complains how Ao3 is confusing but it’s really not compared to ff… i don’t know, but i think there’s a difference in quality of fics too? obvs some exceptions but still not as good as Ao3.
I suppose the tag system may take five minutes to get used to but I don't think that's 'confusing' as such, and you can search by basically anything your heart desires?? I have definitely noticed a difference in the quality which probably comes from how (relatively) new Ao3 is in comparison whereas FF.net has been around for.. a looong time, which means it's had years to build up the bad. Also I can't help but wonder if people's tolerance for poor writing has decreased over the years since fandom has become more widespread, finding a fic of your favorite pairing (unless it's super!crack but even then it's likely someone shares your kink) is less difficult so people are less inclined to accept poorer works?
