Well," He stood up, walking over to her before slowly getting to one knee and pulling out a box from his pocket. "I trust you, and I want to show you that." He opened the box, revealing the ring he’d previously showed her. "Odette Swanson, will you marry me?"

He'd passed out shortly after getting to the hospital, but upon waking up, it was as if all the memories after getting shot were gone. He felt himself being to panic, but that panic only brought about pain that forced him to calm down. He looked around, relaxing more once he saw he was in a hospital bed, and hooked up to god-knew-what kind of machines. He called in a passing nurse, asking her to find either his mother or Odette.

Derek could barely sleep. The feeling of being empty and angry haunted him, sometimes even giving him nightmares. He woke up just before dawn, sweating slightly with his heart pounding. Looking over at Odette, a feeling of almost instant calm washed over him. He was alright, and in that moment, the world seemed alright. Watching her sleep, he reached over to brush her hair back from her face, leaning down to press a kiss to her cheek before sleepily getting out of bed. He slipped on a pair of shorts and a ragged white shirt before leaving the bedroom and heading for the kitchen.
