This is a #repost from @islandjems via @PhotoAroundApp After 55 years living on the Great Barrier Reef, my mum is finally a certified open water scuba diver. Ever since I learned to dive I have been trying to get her to do the same, because I could just tell how much she would love it. She is the person who first introduced me to the reef. She's the best swimmer I know, loves to snorkel and free dive and is like a fish in the water. She always thought you could see the reef snorkelling and didn't see the point of scuba. Since starting doing these trips to Osprey reef and the Ribbons with @mikeballdive, I have finally been able to convince her to come out and do a dive trip. All I have wanted to show her is that scuba is just another amazing way for her to see the reef she loves so much. She is offically an open water diver today and i could not be prouder. Diving with my mum for the first time is something I never thought I would get to experience. It's nice to be able to give her a part of the reef she never had, after all she has given to me.
