A few things to consider...... 1. The goal is to be interdependent as you both are dependent on God. Black women don't believe the hype of being Ms. Independent. Noone else is waving the banner celebrating being independent but us. The original design (God's definition of marriage) is divine and has tremendous purpose. Study successful marriages. 2. We're only as strong as the strength we exercise to ask for help, set boundaries and draw from God's strength when we feel weak. We are not meant to do life in our own strengths. 3. I know. I get it. Sometimes we believe time and circumstances won't allow us to go to God first. However, I'm constantly learning God can no longer be the afterthought, but my first thought-in everything! Ya hear me girl? Going to God first is really a matter of whose way, whose method and whose strength do we want to do life in. At times we say: What do you want Lord? How do you want to do this God, but barely or rarely make room to fully hear. Here's what I know for sure. My ways run into dead ends. My methods have minimal influence. My strength only lasts for so long. In short I run out when attempting to do things on my own..that's why ends that way. (In my Patti voice)😉 I know. I get it. New shade game on the scene. It's no secret I love a good pair of #shades, #sunglasses (whatever you choose to call them) to protect my eyes from the sun. Light colored eyes like mine, have a tendency to be sensitive to the sunlight so I do my part to protect my eyes. Just like shades are used to protect your eyes from the sun, what do you have in place to protect your heart and mind as you pursue the purposed prize? It's a necessary part of the process and will greatly affect your outcome and progress if not you're not careful and intentional. Take this day to set-up your protective process. When I tell you God hears what we call our minor requests, believe me He does. I wanted this book as I REALLY LOVE Priscilla Shrier's teaching. My budget is tight so I said I'd wait and get it later. Today I perused Facebook Marketplace and God had this book and several others waiting there for me at no cost. This season of life is full of blessings I could not have even imagined. I cry with extreme gratitude just thinking about all the questions I had of God in my transition. As I slowly laid down my will, God allowed His perfect Will to step in and experience life like never before! If you're fighting God. May I encourage you to put down your gloves and embrace His love. Embrace the carved out path He has for you.
