Warrior cats has its writting faults, but it did give us a bunch of young individuals who made an earnest mistake, thinking they were doing what was best or just being too shy to speak/expecting bad consequences/thinking it was not worth speaking up and then being the indirect cause of something awful and being seen as responsible for this.
I’m not talking about, say, Dove “I’m going to go to Wind camp in the middle of the night to talk to sedgewhisker” paw, or Fire “I’m going to hunt for riverclan because they’re flooded” heart. They knew what they were doing would lend thme in trouble and chose to do it.
I’m talking about Tall “well if nobody else makes any remark on the shadowclan smell then it’s probably because it’s normal/a border patrol whose scent was brought by the wind” paw, who thinks (and is not the only one) he caused Brackenwing’s death by not speaking up.
I’m talking about Crooked “my mother can look after herself the priority is chasing the dog out” jaw, who thinks (and is not the only one) he caused Rainflower’s death by leaving instead of staying.
I’m talking about Blue “you need to stretch your legs Snowfur” fur, who thinks and is accused by others (Thistleclaw) of having killed her sister by forcing her to go for a stroll and not stopping her fast enough near the thunderpath.
I’m talking about Fire “I need to get those herbs to Yellowfang first but then I’m going to tell the message” heart, who blames himself for Cinderpaw disobeying him and falling into Tigerclaw’s trap.
I’m talking about Bracken “if I had jumped higher I could have saved him” fur who blames himself (but is not blamed by others) for Snowkit’s death.
