Katie Greenwood Ross of Thistle Thistle passed away a few days ago after a cancer diagnosis last year. I never knew her, never spoke with her, but for some reason hearing about her passing has weighed heavily on me. For a couple of years now, I have admired her beautiful artistry and spunky attitude and amazing eye for design. She had the rare ability to make historical (and historically inspired) fashion feel lived-in and uniquely her’s with a wild beauty. All of the tributes and well wishes I’ve seen from the historical costuming community are so heartfelt and plentiful - she was clearly loved by so many people on and offline.

I think this is weighing on me because we’re around the same age, and my mom passed from a rare and aggressive form of breast cancer. It’s just such a cruelty. My heart goes out to all of her friends and family.
