I’m working hard on edits of my new and mysterious novel. Edits are not my strong suit so please think of me during this spooky season as I kill my darling banters, beauteous followers. (Critique partners: books CAN’T be 70% jokes 30% suffering. Me: 😭😭😭explain why.) #authorsofinstagram #thiswritinglife #pomegranates #evil #unicornpostits https://www.instagram.com/p/CVkwlazo3Nh/?utm_medium=tumblr
Do you like podcasts? Well today I'm a guest on the Tranquility du Jour pod with Kimberly Wilson. This is such an honour as this was the first pod I ever listened to! We talk about yoga, writing, meditation and life as an INFJ. There is so much about writing a book that has nothing to do with writing....there is daydreaming and staring out of the window, there is a lot of editing (and insane procrastination to avoid editing) and thete is a LOT of reading. By the time a book is "done" (a book is never really done, one simply runs out of time), I've probably read it about 8 times at least. This weekend I've been reading book 4 for the very last time and I'm so bored of it - I couldn't care less if all the characters caught on fire. And that, dear reader means it's finished and I've done the best I can. . . . . . . . . #writersofinstagram #authorsofinstagram #writersofig #authorlife #thiswritinglife #mylifeinbooks #bookstagram #flatlaysofig #flowerstagram #flowersofinsta #underthefloralspell #alliseeispretty #teacupsofinstragram #teacupsandsaucers #booksaremybag #book4 #theconstantlycurious #thetearoomonthebay https://www.instagram.com/p/CC1JAJPAMrz/?igshid=1wwc099mum1e0
I haven't written a single word of my latest WIP today. After a conversation with my agent I've been thinking about a Christmas 2021 book (current WIP is aiming for summer 2022). It's weird to think so far ahead particularly as the future feels more unknown than ever before. I've also set up a YouTube channel....I know 😳 but I thought it might be fun. I'll start making content next month but do subscribe so I don't look like a Billy no mates 🙃 Link in profile along with the myriad of other places you can find me online 🙄 #amwriting #amreading #thiswritinglife #contentcreators #flowersofinstagram #underthefloralspell #alliseeispretty #thenarrativesociety #brimfulofcurious #flowerstagram #bloggerslife #authorlife #writingcommunity https://www.instagram.com/p/CCs-ekIAQ90/?igshid=ktj6yfedbpd3

I saw this dead worm getting eaten by ants this morning on my way to work. It reminded me that we all exist in context and that hella people are caught up in our lives, focused on our own singular shit/struggles meanwhile this worm is slowly being devoured and returned to the Earth. The ants feasted. #oakland #malcolmseesthings #thiswritinglife #helladead #antfeast
"Fight" 2014 This poem is how I feel. Growing up as a #BlackPower Baby, I studied civil disobedience, Social Psychology, Sociology, History, and many other aspects of revolutionary struggle. We will not win anything in one generation, but we can make huge gains. We can shift consciousness and begin to organize world wide. We could if we really wanted to. Black people say we want revolution, or do we want to get a better spot on the plantation? I want a world that is good for everyone. I want clean water and air, food, space to put down roots and raise up a family. I want my children to have better than what I have. I want to be able to earn what I desire, not what someone wants to give me for my hard work. I determine the value of my own work. I say who and what I am. Black people can have whatever we want. We just have to want it bad enough to do something drastically different than what we have been doing. #144 #malcolmseesthings #thiswritinglife #poet #blackpower #occupy #keepit100 #hiphop #revolution #love (at Alley Cat Books)
