I watched a video by Walter Hampton and his advice was sound: He stated that Black trans women in particular (not white trans women…not black trans men..) should move out to white communities and try interracial dating because Black men have caused nothing but abuse and murders towards them. He said being around Black people in urban communities kills Black trans women. There’s no way a Black trans woman can live in the hood and deal with hood niggas and have any sort of peace.The thing is we’re all mostly wired to be mainly attracted to those who look like us (our own race), and there’s a lot of Black cis women and Black trans women who do not want to date out despite how the dating/safety situations look.
There were two cases in particular that occurred last year I believe. One involved a video that went viral of a Black trans woman tapping a man on the face on the bus after they had some words and then the man beat her down and broke her jaw and left her bloody on the ground and no one helped. When the video was released, the comments on social media were flooded with people siding with the guy, saying he may have overreacted a little but she was warranted a beat down (for tapping his face) because his ‘heterosexuality’ and ‘manhood’ was at risk. That she wasn’t a ‘real woman’ and deserved no mercy. Then weeks passed, the story was updated with details They interviewed her and arrested him. Details were out that her and him were sexually and romantically involved for years and knew each other for damn near a decade or more. Everyone who was siding with him, were quiet. The story faded away too.
The other story involved a murder. When the story dropped the media portrayed the killer as an attractive heterosexual college footballer player who was ‘tricked’ into a sexual encounter with a trans woman. Of course, everyone - women, men, white, Black, and so on, sided with him. They blamed her. The irony is that the victim was not on hormones, had a 5 O’ Clock shadow, was anti-plastic surgery and was openly transgender. She had it in the bio of every social media platform. She never wanted to assimilate.
They found her cell & his.Tracked text messages and kik messages (where he hit her up first). He not only pursued her and knew she was trans but he was looking for a trans woman to hook up with. They found texts between them with him saying how it was the best sexual experiences he had. Long story short, she fell in love with him and he only wanted to use her for sex. He was ashamed of her coming around his campus and calling him too much (unless on his own terms) and he set her up and murdered her.
Again, when the details came out. All the folks who sided with dude got quiet. I believe most cis folks just don’t wanna believe that men actively seek out and want to be with trans women so it’s easy to just say the men were tricked (no matter the circumstance). Look at the Young Buck situation going on right now. Trans women are seen as fetishes on the low, but not openly viewed as desirable. For some strange reason it makes everyone uncomfortable and feel threatened.
It’s hard to swallow but it’s true. The girls are getting killed by the very same niggas BEGGING them to fuck and no one cares.
We have to dismantle black homophobia and allow all of us to be who we are.
