My computer's been broken for a while now, ironic for it to go kaputz just a day after I got home but, as Stephen Sondheim wrote, "it eez what it eez."
Thought I'd go and share the wips and ideations I have for this little hundred line fan project I call "The Futurum Trail", which takes place in the good ol' USA, circa 1870, 5 years after the US Civil War, and only a few months into the colonization of a fictional landmass off the coast of Oregon called Futurum.
I was inspired to start this little au after my friends told me to draw Eito with a cowboy hat on. It expanded from there lol.
Anyway, character details below the cut.
1. Takumi Sumino - New York
= Middle class kid raised by a single mother and an inheritance gained after his dad died fighting the south. Good natured, wants to prove himself, misses the girl he grew up with back home when things were easier.
2. Nozomi Kirifuji - New Jersey
= Daughter and assistant to the illustrious doctor Kirifuji. Loved her mom more than anything in the world and followed her everywhere, the one time she didn't, her mom (is claimed by the government to have) died to natives. Sweet, kind, but holds a misplaced grudge, and is the only one who remembers signing up for the 100th Futurum Settlement company.
3. Kyoshika Magadori - Florida
= Isolated youth that grew up with her historian grandpa in the everglades. Loves stories of knighthood and chivalry; real, embellished, and imagined. Idolizes the adventures of Pizarro, El Cid, Hernan Cortez, and other knights and conquistadors of Spain and so desperately wants to embark on her own adventure in search of the fountain of youth.
4. Yugamu Omokage - South Carolina
= An agent of the infamous Pinkertons who appeared seemingly out of nowhere one day, trained in the arts of ugly brutality and beautiful murder. Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, they utilize Yugamu as a useful tool to pacify uppity southern supremacy groups and workers' strikes.
5. Eito Aotsuki - [Federal Territory of] Utah
= Deeply unwell narcissistic madman who survived a life-threatening illness, afterwards he began seeing himself as the second coming of God, a new Joseph Smith. Goes around the countryside proclaiming his Godly vision, blessed eyes, and gospel of purifying mankind of its sin of poisoning the world. Those that fail to meet his standard, he kills.
6. Darumi Amemiya - [Federal Territory of] New Mexico
= Sad, strange girl stuck in the middle of fuck off nowhere with no mother, a veteran father who fought for the wrong side of history, and a brother that's just plain mean, Darumi's only joys in life were violent pulp novels, knife tricks, and the occasional cow on their ranch that needed a-butchering. Life changed when a porcine pink mass landed on their humble ranch from space, one that proceeded to eat the cows, her father, and then her brother while leaving her alive for showing it kindness and feeding it when it was but a wee slime. Goes around the countryside looking for pulp novels to read and meals for her voracious new best friend.
7. The Automatons Sirei and Nigou
= Hyper-intelligent machines of destruction fueled by undying flames burning eternally in their bellies. Designed by a young Nikola Tesla, the automatons carry out the will of the US government in wax tubes they read with their internal mechanisms.
AU where Eito is the one in the time loop and he's trying to find out how to break the loop so he can kill humanity permanently but he keeps betraying, sabotaging and killing the SDU each time with more frequency which in turn softlocks him out of a lot of the mysteries.
Also Gaku or Shouma take Hiruko's place because of reasons I'll elaborate on lateeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrr
