aaaa Grim Fandango is one of my all time favourite games, and Manny and Lupe are my favourite characters! (Aswell as Lola) But I'd like to say I absolutely loved your little fanfiction of the two! I was really glad to see someone writing something. Have you read the novel of Grim Fandango? If not, you should definitely check it out. Glad to know I'm not the only one writing about the game from time to time!

This is the first time I’ve had a compliment about what little fiction I’ve written, even if it was part of a longer article, you have no idea how surprising and nice this was to see in my inbox, especially as fiction just doesn’t come naturally to me, so thank you, sincerely

No, I had no idea there was a novelisation, though I was aware that someone had done a fanfiction novelisation of the game - unless that was what you were referring to?

It’s a shame Grim Fandango was released when it was, effectively before the internet as we know it existed because above all else I think it demonstrated Tim Schafer’s ability to craft an incredible and original story out of elements that you wouldn’t normally associate with each other. Mexican religion? Film noir storylines? Art Deco sensibilities? How would they work together? But Tim Schafer managed it, and it’s a great story that unlike a lot of games today, managed to have a definite beginning, and engaging middle and an ending that ties every single loose end together, it’s a shame not much fiction has been written in the same universe. Magnificent. And yes, I like Lupe - despite being a curmudgeon, I found her general demeanour and character to be cute
