I really appreciate Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan's theory of small e evil in "The Strain." Thomas Eichort's backstory may as well have been lifted right out of "They Thought They Were Free", the book about ordinary, mediocre (and I'm using that descriptively not pejoratively) Germans and why they made the choices they made during the rise of fascism. Going from a failure to running a death camp really solidifies his fanaticism for the Reichs and Fuhrers he's sold his soul to.

Sammel's performance adds layers to it, the way in which he presents himself as dignified and meticulous but there's a child inside of him that bursts out periodically who needs validation. He's such a supervillain in the sense that its not enough to defeat his enemies, he needs them to acknowledge his superiority.

I re-created this scene, from The Strain series because I like that series and this particular scene stayed in my mind pretty much and I really liked it. Also, the first song that came to my mind when I first saw both the pictures and finally the episode itself was Bon Jovi’s You give love a bad name.
