I decided this July I'm going to celebrate Disability Pride Month by doing fanart tributes of disabled characters and trying to boost Palestinian fundraisers/petitions/helpful things. I wish I had these ready earlier so I could post them before the 4th. I'll have a short blurb about the characters under the cut and a link with each post.

Averell and Joe Dalton (Lucky Luke) -- Gigantism and dwarfism. The Daltons are my favorite characters and Joe and Averell definitely stand out the most to me. I love how Joe doesn't take shit from anyone, and I love how Averell has a more laid-back personality than his brothers. They compliment each other in that way.

Thomas Gotze (Shed 17, Project G1) -- Mobility Aid, chronic and complex health problems. Nothing but respect for MY president. The Shed 17 series has strong themes of disability and the brutality that stems from judging people by their "usefulness" (if I'm interpreting it right). I can't help but sympathize with Thomas' rage in the end.

Bunnie Rabbot (Sonic the Hedgehog) -- Amputee (kind of), prosthetic user. One of my favorite Satam characters! Bunnie's robotic limbs may be stronger than her flesh arm, but they also give her unique challenges. At least once, her robot arm is shown falling off in the animated series, and her limbs require maintenance. In the comic series she has specific vulnerabilities too: in one issue, her metal limbs are used against her when she's trapped to a magnet. I think Bunnie's struggles set her apart from others with the "super-powered prosthetic" trope, and make her seem more real and grounded as a character.

David Hyde/Black Manta (DC comics, Aquaman) -- Autism. As an autistic person, I really like the idea that trying to "cure" his autism was an inherently traumatizing experience that set him on his path towards villainy. Let me be clear, I sympathize with other autistic people who want to reduce their symptoms or even want to cure their own autism. The people experimenting on David were doing him no favors, though. They were trying to create a "normal" abled person whether he liked it or not, and as a result, he had to survive their attempt to kill the autistic person he was.

Some Keith and Major Hartley centric headcanons I've been daydreaming about after reading this year's first submission (Again, keep the hcs coming cause your ideas are genuinely so kool,, @aesseater69):

Headcanon 1: I'd like to think that after Keith had been ripped in half on live TV, the news broadcast that displayed his death was taken down in an attempt to cover up the whole thing. So for many years, he was only considered "missing" and not dead. And during that period, Major Hartley just kinda gambled away all of his father's money. So like, after reuniting at the end of Sodorland, the two of them just immediately sprinted to the pub so they could drown themselves in booze and forget about everything that happened (let's just all agree that this is a generational pattern with the Hartleys atp 💔). Then Keith was prob like "Oh, it's been a while, boy! Let your old man pay this time!!" and opened up his shitty Blackberry phone, only to find his bank account completely drained.

Headcanon 2: When he's not texting Major dad jokes, Keith is the most "how do you do fellow kids" middle aged man to ever walk this planet. He has prob tried to insert certain slangs into his daily convos, pretended to like any "modern" music genres other than dad rock, and attempted to hit a kickflip on one of those plastic skateboards for toddlers a dozen times. And his son either doesn't understand his attempts at being hip or just leaves his messages on read with a thumbsup emoji (Major does know that Keith is trying his best, he just finds it hard to express his emotions)

Headcanon 3: Major's childhood drawings of locomotives are still hanging on his family's fridge lol (he never bothered to take them down after Keith's death). And all the band posters from his emo teenage years? Yup, still there. He's a hoarder who keeps all the hand-me-downs from his dad without ever touching a single item.

Headcanon 5: Unlike Keith, Major is extremely and I mean extremely susceptible to road rage.

Headcanon 6: Major Hartley doesn't quite remember seeing Owen Routh as a kid, so after the events in Sodorland, he and Keith prob had an exchange that went like:

"You used to work with him, didn't you? I think he was in one of those old photos you showed me when I was—"

"What? That was way back in college! I was once a young lad too, y'know—"

"I was only asking if you two were colleagues."

"Oh, no."

Haii!! It's me, the guy who wrote all those weirdly long (and sometimes unusually short) anon submissions. Due to schoolwork making me busier than ever, I decided to go on a hiatus. A few exams and a couple visits to the hospital later, I was back to geeking out over this fandom!!! ^_^

Dunno if anyone talked about this, but wanted to express what I think in my own words.

I love when parallels are paralleling. Todays victims will be Thomas and major Hartley because it's painfully obvious.

They are both traumatized by the same/consequences of the same situation.

They are both grieving someone.

Their grief made them angry, merciless, aggressive in the way they interact with this world and people/biofusions.

Thomas and major Hartley are on the opposite sides of one war. They are both naturally innocent as kids, but came out violent in the consequences of situation that they were unable to control. They both lack the said control and desperatly grasp at anything they can to gain it. They express their pain the same way.

And this is the trope where understanding each other will not fix their hatred. They absolutely despise each other and the feeling will deepen if they see just how much alike they are. They would HATE to see each other in each others eyes.

And it's wonderful.

Hewwo folks, sorry for my radio silence, this is the last week of my semester, im need to focus on it for a bit, but whatever, here's the info of Owen Routh (and couple other characters from shed 17) in my AU!!!

Originally i planned to add him for the sake of stupid joke where Topham got sick and instead of normal doctor they accidentally invited crazy ass kinologist, but after some posts from rainre, I decided to change it.

Now Owen is one of the doctors who gave Keith Hartley lobotomia many years ago. At start he genuinely believed that he actually "cure" his patients with this operation, he even been kind of jealous to them due to how "happy" they looked to him.

But as the times goes Owen realized that he didn't cure them at all, instead, he litteraly ripped of their souls and make them suffer slow death & degradation of their own brain. Routh deeply hate himself for being blind on the consequences of his actions and what he done to this people, especially to Hartley, since he has to cross paths with him every morning at the station, and Owen saw in real time how Keith was changing.

He physically can't stare at him (Keith) because of the constant reminder of what he had turned him & some others people into. (Honestly I didn't come up with his whole personality yet, but I can say he's kinda seen weird to people & also a big nerd).

Overall, his role in the story not that significant as the other characters, but it's still very impactful i think. (Also, after some research I'm now can fully stated that the events of this AU happen in 1960s, Hartley is canonicaly in his 30s here (Owen gave him lobotomy when he was 17 years old btw)) .

Now about Hans & Thomas Götze, (yes, human Thomas exists along with engine Thomas there), there are not so many differences in character between their original inspirations, and they unfortunately more like a side characters since I have many troubles in trying to fit them into plot, but here's some things I think you should know about them:

1. Hans in this AU are teacher of biology and botany for Grammar School (It's elite type of school where children who passed "11+" exam (around 15-20%) were prepared for the high-level exams (Also known as "GCE O-level" & "GCE A-level" exams) to enter prestigious universities).

2. Thomas is adopted due to the fact that Hans was found to be infertile. He doesn't know he is adopted at all, and on every question why he's parents both blonde while he is black haired, he simply responds that he got it from his grandpa. Also, this lil folk is running around with other lil folks instead of being dead.
