A Cure for Blindness

Floyd Haywood waited nervously in the lobby of World Enterprises, sitting on the comfy leather seats and waiting to be called in to meet the head of the company. He had received a personal phone call from Thomas Jerome Newton, who was researching various eye conditions in hopes of improving medicine and surgery in the optometry field. Floyd was familiar with the company, he had many of their products as they were very accessible to the disabled and were affordable, but he had no idea that they also did medical research. Mr. Newton had discovered Floyd's music online and after learning he was born blind, had invited him to be a research subject to help in the studies.

Floyd had been reluctant at first. He had been blind all his life and was not looking for a cure. On top of that, considering the things that he DID 'See', he was wondering if that would affect the research. He often wondered if other blind people had these Visions, or if it was just him. Maybe he was just messed up some how, maybe he was mentally ill. He was worried about someone finding out about his terrible secret, but at the same time he wondered if they could fix that too. He had only ended up agreeing to Mr. Newton's proposal because of the hope that it would help other people with their eye conditions who wanted the cure. Because Floyd was a kind and generous soul, he simply just couldn't pass that up that chance.

His helpful assistant had helped him get to the head office of World Enterprises in the city where Mr. Newton would meet him. He didn't normally need help getting around but since this was an unfamiliar place, he needed some more direction than usual. He preferred to be independent, usually. Floyd sat on the edge of the cushion, clutching his cane and waiting to be called into Newton's office.
