Wow wow wow Thoreau is a genius. So good. In this second chapter that I read today he talks about living. I'll start with an excerpt on his outlook. "We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake, not by mechanical aids, but by an infinite expectation of the dawn, which does not forsake us in our soundest sleep." He goes on to state "I know no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by conscious endeavour!" As I sit here sipping on an Amazing blend from Panama by Phil & Sebastian at My shop I stare out this window at the spray painted 67 across the street I ponder these quotes. Thoreau was so excited to get up each morning, in fact he was beside himself because he was doing life the way he truly believed was the right way. He truly loved life. He would get up so early. I work night shifts and it's a love hate relationship. With that being said I love being up early and my thoughts resonate with Thoreau. However I love my beauty sleep. Staring out the window with the sun shining is the best way to start a day to me at this time in my life. I could only imagine how great this could be in nature itself. It's so great due to the fact that my mind is so clear and crisp and I can dissect walden. I feel that my consciousness is truly elevated at these times. Then it's all downhill once I arrive at work. Funny how that works. We all need something we love. Donald Miller once said something along the lines of this. You need to watch someone love something before you can love it yourself. This is a butchering of the quote but ya. I never liked biking reading most music genres nature and many other things until I saw others love it first. My eyes became open through love. Love Does God is Love Until next time.
