Archaeology Dept to inspect St Sebastian Church
KOCHI: The Archaeology Department will conduct an inspection at St Sebastian Church, Thoppumpady, on Saturday in connection with the alleged demolition of a portion of the church structure.
The century-old church, which is a protected monument, was partially demolished by the church authorities on Wednesday night.
According to sources in Archeology Department, the conservative engineer, Satheesh, will examine whether the church had violated the conditions which were to be adhered to while carrying out the modification work. He will be assisted by another official and would file a report on the matter. Further move will be made based on the report, the sources said.
An official from Ernakulam had already inspected the church site and the report is expected soon. (source)
