That painful sentence passed through her mind while Astrid was sat in one dark corner of her room that late afternoon. The windows were closed and the blinds didn’t let the light completely enter the room, consequently it was pretty dark in there but still, the darkest place of the room was where Astrid was, she let darkness cover her as she stayed there. She was completely curled up, crying silently alone and feeling terribly sad, gloomy and nervous. Her room’s door was locked and a notice was hanging from it, which said: Don’t you dare to enter or you will regret it.
That day had been such an awful one: she had got a bad mark on a exam for which she had studied very hard, at school. This normally wouldn’t be much of a big deal, she’d normally recover herself and think she would try harder next time, she wouldn’t bring herself down for just one simple test, the real problem began when she found out most of the students who failed all the relatively easy exams passed that hard one. That definitely brought her down, due to her competitive nature, she thought then that they all probably cheated but that gave her a bad image knowing that she didn’t have prove of it and the teacher didn’t notice. Another reason was that, her boyfriend, Hiccup didn’t attend to school that day because he was terribly ill. He had temperature, a headache and like it wasn’t too much, a cold. She went to visit him regularly but that day she could not go because she had to stay home and look after her young siblings, who were playing downstairs, because her parents weren’t at home. She knew she should be there with them but she also knew they wouldn’t get in trouble while their big sister was upstairs, they were quite responsible despite their age and they never disobeyed her. Another reason why she was upset was that she had had a fight with her parents that morning, because they said her marks could get worse if she keeps spending much time with Hiccup. Though, she was able to win the fight, her parents were still upset with her and the worst thing was that, with this last bad mark, they possibly would punish her for spending time with Hiccup. Because all of this, she was feeling horrible. She wasn’t sure she wanted to call any of her friends for support, she didn’t want to bother them and she didn’t like to show them her weak side, so she just kept her mobile away and stayed there thinking of all that happened in the few past hours.
