Chapter 2 - City 127
The first few days consisted of Jaehyun merely reblogging and liking several posts, commenting on some. But he quickly gained a lot of attention and followers, and even some anonymous asks from people, saying they’d like to be his friend because he seemed “really nice and funny”. He was flattered, responding that they could always message him about anything, that he’d always be there for them if they needed a friend.
So he wasn’t entirely surprised when he received a private message, several weeks into having his blog up.
«Hi ^^»
He smiled softly at his phone screen, typing out a short reply before checking out their blog and following them back.
«Hey, what's up? :)»
«Just trying to follow some new people and make friends, haven't been in the fandom for long haha. What about you? How long have you been a stan?»
Jaehyun bit his lip in thought. Would he get away with subtly weaseling his way around the truth? Or would they get suspicious right away?
«I guess you could say from the very beginning. They're all just so talented, it's only natural ^^»
«Sksksk ain't that the truth. Who's your bias?»
Jaehyun let out a low chuckle, looking up at his friends talking among themselves. How could anyone pick just one favourite?
«You're supposed to have only one? XD»
«eye-»
«Touché, sir. Touché»
«ot21 as it should be»
«I'm still easing my way into it all but it seems this one guy keeps getting my attention somehow. Don't ask me for names though, I couldn't tell them apart if my life depended on it»
Jaehyun's eyebrows drew closer together, looking confused. Did people really think all the members look too similar to recognise?
«I can help, if you want, just send me a picture or video or something and describe the person and I'll tell you their name :)»
What he didn't expect, however, was his own face staring back at him from what was clearly a screenshot of a YouTube video. A soft laugh left his lips, a result from the irony of the entire situation.
«That's Jaehyun, handsome, no?»
«I mean»
«God yes»
«He sure is a visual»
«But»
«I was kinda drawn to his voice»
A pleasant surprise. Jaehyun wasn't oblivious to the fact that he was good-looking and people liked that, but before coming onto this godforsaken website, he had no idea just how badly they thirsted over his body. Oddly enough, it made him feel insecure. Was he nothing more than a visual? Something pleasant to look at? Were his voice and talent and endless love for their community not good enough?
His mind wandered to some rather sad thoughts before being snapped out of it by another buzz from his phone.
«Not to be nsfw but I would kiss his forehead and tell him how talented and important and loved he is»
His lips curled into a big smile, dimples setting in his cheeks. This was going to be an interesting friendship, and he was all here for it.
«Not to be nsfw, but I'm sure he would really really like that»

Chapter 1 - Welcome to my Playground
NCT was currently touring in the US, and they were all excited, yet exhausted from the constant performing and moving from city to city. For Jaehyun, it was no different. They had just finished their performance, returning to their tour bus to rest. He sat down on the sofa, his phone in his hand as he scrolled through various social media. A soft smile laced his features as he read the kind comments about himself and the other members, making him feel proud of what they’d accomplished so far.
His eyes caught one post with a link to a different website, supposedly a short story written by the person who posted it. He hummed, curious about what it would be like, and tapped it, being taken to a site called ‘Tumblr’. A low chuckle left his lips, what a silly name. He read the story, actually impressed with their writing style and creativity. He thought it was cute how some fans made up their own little theories of what they thought the members’ personalities were like.
Before he knew it, Taeyong walked in, worried about Jaehyun’s well-being. “Hey, do you know it’s already way past midnight? You should really get some rest,” he spoke softly, tossing him a blanket and leaving to get some sleep himself. Jaehyun looked at the clock on his phone, absolutely mortified when he saw the time; 2:36 pm. He had been so caught up with reading and looking at pictures, that he’d lost track of time.
Closing the tab and putting away his phone on the way to his bunk, he stripped down to his boxers and tried his best to sleep. Once he did, his night was filled with happy dreams and a steady sleeping pattern. When the sun rose, they were already in a different city, some of the members already up and about, chatting happily over a cup of coffee or chocolate milk.
Jaehyun woke up and stretched, getting out of his bunk as he rubbed his eyes sleepily. He was still a bit tired, yet he somehow felt well rested, making his way to the kitchen-like part of the bus. After a few hours, all the members were awake and dressed, heading out for breakfast.
The entire time, he couldn’t help but think about the website he was on the night before, debating whether or not he should make his own account in an attempt to get into contact with some fans. But he couldn’t have them know it was him, no, they would freak out. He hated lying, but if he wanted to do this, he had to. His fingers tapped on his phone screen swiftly, downloading the app and making an account.
He saved some pictures of each member, picking out his favourites to set as his icon and header. He smiled proudly at the sight of his new blog, eagerly following some others and reblogging their posts. It made him happy to see them all so supportive of them, and he wanted to give something back to them. Now he finally could.
“I’m here now, jagi”
Taehyung had always had a special gift of sensing people’s true emotions, kind of like figurative antennae, picking up other people’s energy in a heartbeat. But with you, it was so much stronger. Perhaps it was the way he deeply cared about you, or maybe how big his love for you was. Or maybe, just maybe, it had something to do with the way his heart jumped every time he saw your smile. Either way, his mind was set on stopping at absolutely nothing to make -and keep- you happy. But of course he wouldn’t tell you that. He was just your friend after all.
The week had just started and you were already emotionally drained, absolutely exhausted, and just craving your bed. And Taehyung could tell by the way you were texting him. You weren’t as excited and giddy as you usually were.
“Do you want me to come over, jagi?” he asked, concerned about your mental health and overall state of being.
“No, I’m fine, really” you lied, obviously, but you didn’t want your friend to see you like this. You were an absolute mess, mascara and eyeliner mixed in the tears that slowly rolled down your cheeks. You didn’t even remember what you were crying about, which only made you feel worse. You really were a crybaby, weren’t you?
Before you knew it, you heard a knock on your door, and you immediately knew what that meant. Taehyung. He was the only one that knocked instead of just rang the doorbell, though you never really understood why. You sighed, yet your heart kind of fluttered the way it always did when you were with him, and you got up from your seat on the couch, running a hand through your messy hair. You quickly wiped at your cheeks and underneath your eyes in an attempt to fix what was left of your ruined makeup as you made your way over to the door.
You took a deep breath, your hand going to the doorknob, seemingly in slow motion. As soon as you opened it, you were met with a breathless, sweaty Taehyung. “I ran-” he stopped himself, holding up his index finger, “all the way here.”
You couldn’t help but feel a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips. He was so endearing. “Taehyung-ah, you didn’t ha-”
He didn’t even let you finish your sentence as he gently grabbed your hips and pulled you in for a hug. The warmth and love radiating off him immediately made you feel safe, made you feel at home. Your eyes started to glisten as tears welled up in them again, not even caring about him seeing you cry anymore, just letting it all out as you sobbed into his chest, holding onto him as if your life depended on it.
Taehyung slowly walked you backwards, leading you inside and closing the door behind him. “Shh..” he cooed, placing a soft kiss on your forehead. “I’m here now, jagi.”
"I can make it better."
Another night filled with horrible nightmares, a sickening empty feeling in your chest and stomach, and dried up tears on your cheeks. This had become routine now, and you absolutely hated it. Listening to music, reading, writing, drawing, watching movies, … No matter what you tried, nothing could make you happy or even distract you for long enough from the pain and sadness you felt. Except for one person. Yoongi. Your boyfriend. He somehow made all the destructive thoughts go away whenever you two were together.
You were currently in bed, waiting for him to get home from his studio, yet you wished he wouldn’t come home at all. You didn’t want him to see you like this, it’d break his heart. Hearing his keys jangle and the front door opening, you hurried to the bathroom, trying to clean up the mess that was supposed to represent the makeup you’d put on earlier this day.
Yoongi walked into the room and wrapped his arms around your waist from behind, placing a soft kiss on the side of your neck. You made eye contact with your boyfriend in the mirror, forcing a smile. He immediately caught on, slowly spinning you around and cupping your cheeks. “Baby, what’s wrong?”
Looking down, you let out a small sigh, reluctant to tell him about your true feelings and thoughts. “Come on, baby. You know you can tell me everything,” he cooed, tilting your head so you’d look at him again. How were you supposed to lie to this man? The answer? You couldn’t.
He reached for your hand, gently leading you to your bed and sitting you down on his lap. After venting to him about both the big and small things bothering you, you couldn’t keep it bottled up anymore. As tears started rolling down your cheeks again, Yoongi just held you, letting you cry as much as you needed to. When you felt like you had no more tears left to cry, you slowly pushed him back on the bed and laid down next to him, your head on his chest.
Yoongi wiped away your tears with his thumb, hushing you lovingly before placing a soft kiss on your lips. “It’s okay, jagi. I can make it better.” he whispered, playing with your hair soothingly, his other hand drawing random patterns on your exposed skin.
After what felt like mere seconds, you fell asleep in your lover’s arms, feeling safe and content. The way only Yoongi could make you feel. He was right, he did make everything better.
The entire night, Yoongi held you and watched you sleep, making sure you were okay, barely sleeping himself in order to protect you from whatever demons were lurking in the dark corners of your mind. When the sun rose, he gently moved you off him and tucked you in again, before getting out of bed himself.
You woke up to the smell of pancakes, eggs, bacon, and other yummy morning dishes. Sleepily stumbling to the kitchen, you rub your eyes and run a hand through your messy hair. There was your boyfriend, casually looking as handsome as ever as he slaved over the stove, cursing in both English and his Korean dialect as he burnt some of the food.
Wrapping your arms around him from behind, he immediately turned around, a bit startled. “Baby! Good morning!” he exclaimed happily, his gummy smile showing. “I know your night was crap so I thought I’d try to make your morning a bit better. But I’m not that good of a cook so I hope at least one thing here is edible.”
You laughed softly at how adorable he was being. And in case it wasn’t obvious yet, you were absolutely and utterly in love with this man.
