Coming out of the kitchen

Dave was nervous as hell. His best friend in the world Eric would be over in fifteen minutes and tonight was the night he was finally going to tell him that he was gay. He was sure it wouldn't be an issue, considering that Eric was gay himself, but Dave had never told anyone before and actually saying it out loud for the first time scared him to no end. 

Luckily for him though, he was making dinner for their evening together and cooking always seemed to calm him down. In one pan, two large, juicy steaks he had picked out at his favorite butcher shop that morning, in another, asparagus  waiting to be  grilled sitting next to a large pot of potatoes ready to be mashed and infused with garlic. "Even if it all turns to shit, at least we'll have a good dinner." He chuckled to himself, hoping that the fact he could laugh at it meant he would be able to deal with it.

He was just taking a long drink of water, when there was a knock at the door. After wiping the sweat from his brow he made his way to the door. "You took down guys twice your size playing football Karofsky, you can do this." He said to get himself psyched before he opened the door. "Eric!" He said excitedly as his best friend came into sight. "You'd better be hungry dude. I made a feast." He grinned.
