self pity is poison to me

almost like a cigarette

in the sense that

both kill me faster

but i'm not trying to fast

on either one because

things that kill me

keep me alive

keep me grounded

to the sound of

a fading, jaded heartbeat

because one day it'll kill me

but by then i'm sure

I'll want to die anyways.
