Thoughts on Primus vs The Quintessons?
Thank you ~
So, if I prefer transformers origin stories based on Primus or the Quintessons?
Let me start by saying that I am not a sci-fi fan.
I’m not interested in the major tropes of science fiction and I am especially not interested in robot narratives about “are they human and should we treat them as human” stuff.
Whenever I did watch something sci-fi, it was despite the sci-fi and my focus went to something completely else.
Only reason I touched Transformers was learning that
1. They have souls and are aliens so the typical robot narrative isn’t present
2. That most of transformers media is more soft sci-fi or even science fantasy. With fantasy tropes like mythology and mysticism being far more prevelant than any major sci-fi tropes
So when I watched G1 and they explained the origin of transformers as robots built to serve, who then gathered their own will to be treated as sentient beings...uuh, wasn’t into that. Because, again, I am just not a fan of such stories.
And I am far more into fantasy stuff like the 13 original Primes, Primus and Unicron as legendary figures/Gods!
That’s just what I am into and always have been into! ~
On a different note however, as an actual religious and spiritual person, I am not thrilled by most western fiction featuring a God figure. Because it’s usually not written by a person who actually believes, at best just a cultural christian.
And I am simply sick of that kind of stuff, stories about God written by people who don’t get or don’t care about how a worldview with God even functions.
For example, my biggest pet peeve is when a religious character gets angry at God because people die or bad stuff happens. As if death wasn’t a crucial part of life that everyone will face one day that most religions have an answer to as to how to deal with it:
“Don’t think of those who have been killed in God’s way as dead. They are alive with their Lord” Quran 3:169
Now I haven’t read the Bible but surely something similiar will be written in it as well and it annoys me when so called religious characters then have a crisis where they doubt God’s existence and their faith because of someone’s death.
Okay enough of that, back to Transformers:
What I wanted to get at is that I dont generally trust western writers to make any kind of story about a God that I would like and enjoy. I know a little bit of Primus in IDW and what I know doesn’t make me thrilled to get to it.
And while the concept of Primus doesn’t bother me, I personally think Transformers stories don’t need an explanation to how they came to be?
Like why do these origin stories even exist and why is their only one?
Wouldn’t it be far more interesting for different groups of cybertronians to have different visions about this, just like the real world?
How about transformers coming to Earth or other planets and getting learning about the origin stories they have?
Compare it, realise that hey, we have a similiar believe to that even though we are from different planets millions of light years apart!
Not the first time I expressed the idea of Sixshot coming to Earth and accepting Islam! xD
So Quintessons as the origin of transformers? Not my thing.
Primus as the origin of transformers? More my thing, but why make it only one truth, just one version?
Why not have some Cybertronians believe that they were built as slaves by another alien race while the other believes they were created by a God?
Why not have the 13 Primes and different groups having one Prime as their patreon?
Let their be different believes! Gimme more than just one truth!
