At the risk of spamming all of you with yet more oppy musings another thing I find charming about her is that her awareness at her inhumanity causes her to act more inhuman as she plays into it — here when I say human I mean of course in the more broad sense of the term, in a symbolic literary sense — in that she will play into her inhuman aspects for the sake of creating that sense of being above fault, the will of Primus, et cetera, to provide this sense of stability to those around her. It’s a logical play for morale. And this has massively stunted her ability to actually function as a person; essentially, like I joked at briefly in a post I deleted, she is rendered an inoperable machine; not only is she discouraged from the expression of her emotion, she is inexperienced and unable to recognize it; she speaks in strange and stilted ways, and is incapable of holding a conversation. I find that bit particularly charming; she can’t actually participate in conversations, she can only orate. It is interesting because of course both the decepticon and autobot sides have the sort of cult of personality aspect going on, but where megatron’s innate characteristics were in a sense enhanced, Optimus’ were reduced, and it speaks to a sort of idealized suppression of emotion that here Optimus is the good guy and megatron the bad. It’s evil, to be overtaken by emotion — it’s good, to transcend humanity. It’s evil to act with fervor; you must feel strongly, but you must never allow it to be shown. You see, having no emotion at all is evil; that’s shockwave. But having too much emotion is bad. To be a good person, you must actively work against yourself, you must overcome yourself; to be a good person you must always be in opposition with who you want to be, and suffer eternally. It’s bad, to be happy; to be good, you must be overcome with grief, and guilt, and suffering, and self-hatred. And Optimus is doomed by being the ultimate embodiment of that, unable to exist without inherent repression. Isn’t that sad? Isn’t that kind of pathetic?

6 hours into Undertale so far and Flowey was on-screen for less than 2 minutes. Everytime I think about him, he pops up at the corner of the screen then disappears for a few hours as if that would satisfy me. I want to ask past me why the hell he's my favorite character so much that my notebooks are covered in his face drawn thousands of times

I am sympathetic to the anti-copyright conversation and I agree that big IP and copyright holders like disney are bad for the whole industry, both spiritually and economically. However, I would love it, if people talking about this were more aware and conscious of the realities of the working artist. Making art is slow, laborious, often mentally and physically exhausting and it already pays like shit. One time, I spent two months doing 40hr work weeks on a project for a client that ended up paying only 600€. I have RSIs that will never fully heal. My partner has a low paying full time job but between my part time jobs and my freelancing I work more out of the two of us and still only make a third of what he does. And I'm not special, these kind of situations are the norm for most artists (especially us comic artists...) When this is the everyday reality, it is really frustrating to realise that if you scratch the surface of most leftists, you find a person who thinks that art is not real labor. Artists' rights and wages are a worker's issue, a labor issue. I know one answer to this would be UBI but that is not likely to happen anywhere right now. It would solve a lot of my problems but it sure is not here yet. Generative AI sure is though, training on stolen art and being used to replace me. I wish people understood and respected how much time and energy goes into making art. Nearly everyone wants art and culture and wants to experience it every day in some form, yet so many people think that the people who make it do not matter and should not be paid for their work. Make it make sense.

You would think that a driver club would deal the most brute force damage, being one of the heaviest and thickest, but it moreso depends on the angle you hit. From my experience Iv found Irons and Putters can do a fair amount of damage if you're aiming for the legs... #Thoughts tag

i think satou's a huge model kit fan! gundams and all that... he probably takes trips to the store after school to buy em when he's saved up enough. he assembles em with his friends :))

BUT he never customizes them at all. no extra paint, no decals, no detailing, nothing. just follow the inctructions straight from the manual and boom. He's Done. they are so plain but he is happy

i dont think the Ditto mvs are about Being An Idol or Parasocial Relationships or anything like that, tbh. i think theyre almost 100% about nostalgia. sure, Ban Heesoo represents the fans, but i think its about finding comfort in music during your youth, and growing up.

at the end of Side B, when she's an adult, she puts on the video that shows her childhood memories, represented by the members. and the memories come rushing back to her, and they burst through the door as if it was the day that it happened. the members arent literally there though, theyre a metaphor for any number of different things. youth? a safe comforting thing that you cling to when stressed, and will eventually outgrow the need for, but you reflect back as an adult later on and realize how important it was? they could literally represent themselves, but imo only if it's taken to mean that Ban Heesoo finds comfort in their music, not that she was literally friends with them. they werent actually there, but the music helped her get through some tough, lonely, sad times.

nothing about the vibe of the videos suggests that theyre about serious social issues to me. there's a thick, heavy layer of a very deep, wistful nostalgia over the videos. maybe a lot of the people theorizing about it arent really old enough to have nostalgia like this but... it hits me like a fucking truck every time i watch the videos. it actually really shakes me. it's powerful. it makes me think about a lot of things, about the big picture of life, about youth and how i've grown up, about the simple things and the comforts we think we outgrew but we havent, and we shouldnt, because that's what life is all about.
