There have been seminal moments when people have stepped forward in ways that saved me: the teacher who showed me how to meditate; the doctor understanding my illness and agreeing to treat me; the husband, rightly sensing I needed change, sporting me car and cash to drive from NYC to Napa Valley to work the grape harvest; the famous winemaker who gave me my first break; the boss who bestowed six months paid leave when I divorced said husband; the person who didn't reveal my identity during a compromising situation; the couple of clients who supported my young business; the wife who didn't belittle my fears by agreeing to purchase a house in rural Canada; and the owners of the said house who graciously agreed to release us from the contract, even allowing us to remain during this dark time of quarantine, providing a warm, quiet place in which to shelter. - And the list goes on. - We all depend upon the kindness of people, strangers and otherwise. I’m lucky and humbled by the helping hands that have been extended to me throughout my life. I hope I've paid even a fraction of it forward. - #fuckbebest but #bekind #canada #winter #thoughtsinquarantine (at Prince Edward County) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKX9Kk_L_S4HB0GtzXKSGdqX0bCxFLpW621ePQ0/?igshid=1j0t12wlqt6zc
