“Under the Mountain dark and tall The King has come unto his hall! His foe is dead, the Worm of Dread, And ever so his foes shall fall. The sword is sharp, the spear is long, The arrow swift, the Gate is strong; The heart is bold that looks on gold; The dwarves no more shall suffer wrong. The dwarves of yore made mighty spells, While hammers fells like ringing bells In places deep, where dark things sleep, In hollow halls beneath the fells.”

Oopiri is a beautiful movie
I don't know what has been going on about going into movies with exceptionally low expectations and then coming out more than pleased, but Oopiri turned out to be another movie that completely floored me (this movie beats out Kapoor and Sons as the best so far). Oopiri is the Telugu/Tamil take on the French movie The Intouchables; right off the bat, I'm letting you know that it's a remake of an English/French movie. However, unlike most remakes, this one was AMAZING! Oopiri is a moving movie that isn't slathered nor stuffed with over sentimental qualities. It isn't the usual Indian drama, sob story... It is far from the exaggerated, never ending saga of sadness. Instead, the main plot is handled respectfully and humorously. The characters are simply lovable! All of them! Not a single core character could be despised for any reason whatsoever! This movie is so funny, I can't recall ever watching a Telugu movie with such a heavy focus not drag you through the mud. It's like... A perfectly baked cake-- a fluffy, light hearted film with a perfect balance of comedy, tragedy, and wholehearted happiness. I can't stress how good of a movie it is. Casting choice, comedic timing, cinematography, plot, and the overall feel of the movie... all perfect! It's true to the original film and the slight tweaks work or can be easily overlooked. Oopiri makes me look forward to more Indian/Telugu movies! After watching such disasters (Nannaku Prematho & others), this was fresh and on point. I wouldn't hesitate to watch Oopiri again because this movie is a delightful, inspirational, and refreshing movie. Also, I absolutely adore Karthi-- I hope he finds more roles that bring out his talent. Long story short, Oopiri made me happy and I found this movie to be perfect.

Dear PJ,
Can I beg for a directior’s cut of The Hobbit?
I keep looking forward to the sequel, although I know it won’t be…
I’m just wondering about that millions of bits and miles of film what’s left of the box after the final cut.
I’m patient but eternity seems a bit long…
