@waydcwnwego sent 😴 to wake my muse up from sleep.
The taste of fresh salt at dinner must have sparked a memory in his subconscious for he could smell it in his sleep. He could feel water pooling around his ankles and it was freezing! But, when he looked down, his feet and hands were much smaller than he anticipated as were the pair of hands that came into view, grabbing his own with a giggle.
"Declan, come on!" His name echoed strangely, "They're waiting!" He scampered after the other child, giggling as they splashed through water and caught up with the others that had gathered around something on the sand. They pointed to their discovery.
"Look, we found seashells, Declan!" Again, his name echoed strangely, the voice becoming more familiar.
... Rishi?
"Kids, lunch is ready!" The rest of the children jumped up at the sound of the voice, various comments of hunger or excitement coming from them, but Declan remained with the seashells. He'd become engrossed in forming them in a spiral pattern based on their color, until the feminine voice drew closer and pulled his attention away.
"Aren't you hungry, Declan?"
And the woman with the beautiful, kind smile and rich brunette curls winked out of existence because the voice that said his name was all wrong. There was a brief moment of darkness as consciousness cut through and then his senses kicked in and the hum of the ship gave him the familiar outline of Rishi.
"R-Rishi?"
