HAPPY HOLIDAYS! . . . TRACE HUMMEL-ANDERSON HAS GOTTEN YOU A SECRET SANTA GIFT
When: 12/18 Where: Halls of WMHS
if not for having science class together, trace wouldn’t have really known what to get frankie. scratch that, he would’ve! because what do you get a drug dealer? drug related stuff! it was the specificity of this drug related stuff that had helped him out. for whatever reason, they had in brief talked about astrology. and the only reason he remembered was because frankie said she was a gemini and HE was a gemini. while trace didn’t believe much in astrology, dating lemon had taught him what he needed to know.
so with this information, what did he do? he combined drugs AND astrology and got frankie a grinder off of etsy, with the gemini symbol etched on top in white. safe bet that it probably wasn’t the best grinder in the world, but it was an even safer bet frankie already had one and it didn’t really matter.
after the bell sounded, releasing them from their last science class of the semester, trace kept his hand on the unwrapped gift in the pocket of his hoodie as he chased frankie out the door. “hey frankie!” he called, jogging after her, and ultimately catching her at her locker. “i got you something for that secret santa thing.” he told her, goofy grin tugging on the corner of his lips, “open your hand up so i can give it to you. i promise i’m being for real.” tracy instructed, and once she held her hand out he pulled his own from his pocket, discretely plopping the grinder in her palm, “happy holidays, dude. hope this wasn’t too weird.”
While Frankie was hardly a Grinch in the world, there was something about spending another Christmas without her favorite uncle that was bringing her into a place that she wasn’t wanting. This was going to be a good Christmas. It was the last one before she headed up North with Zoe, it was the first Christmas that Frankie had ever had a girlfriend, and it was a time in which she had over two weeks of school off. These were the perfect conditions for Frankie to be enjoying herself thoroughly... and yet she wasn’t. Her mood didn’t necessarily get better whenever Trace approached her, but something about the concept of a potential Secret Santa present? Attractive to her. She’d bite.
“Hi Tracy,” Frankie said with an offhanded smile as she glanced over at the familiar man for a moment before she was focusing back on unlocking her locker. “I swear to God, if you put some nasty shit in my hand, I’ll kill you,” she said with a nervous laugh before she was doing as instructed and holding out her hand. Whenever she glanced down and took stock of the grinder in her hand, she couldn’t help but smile. It was a nice gift. Personable. Thoughtful. And absolutely illegal to have on school grounds. Frankie was quick to slide the grinder into her shoulder bag before she was giving Trace the most genuine smile she could manage in the moment. “It’s not weird, dude. Seriously, this is a dope ass gift. This just means you’ve invited me to light you up one day though, yeah?” There were some moments where Frankie questioned how she was better friends with Joey than his brother, especially with the similarities between them, but Frankie always (weirdly) had room for more friends. “Happy holidays, HA. I owe you one.” Trace was a good guy and Frankie could feel herself already trying to reach out over the Christmas break to spend time with him. Maybe this Christmas wasn’t going to be the worst after all, especially whenever there was thoughtful people like the Hummel Andersons around.
THE END.
