Had things gone a little differently, Charlotte would be out having the time of her life in Greece. She would’ve been hand in hand with the man she planned on spending forever with. But it seemed her universe had different plans for her. It wasn’t intentional, and by no means did Charlotte want to hurt anyone ever, but her feelings for her supposed husband had changed and here she was… Walking around Darlington as the woman who ran from the alter. Diem said she shouldn’t have even said yes to begin with, and though Charlotte knew she was right, it had taken her till it was too late to even realize that. And unfortunately for her, she could no longer change the past. Thus, the young blonde had no choice but to carry on being who she was. She had to accept that this was what happened and hope no one else hated her for her choices. Of course, here and there she got a few stairs.. After all, Darlington wasn’t that big and people spoke. Thankfully it had lightened up a bit though… Which made things a lot easier.
As she headed out toward the the main city, Charlotte found herself visiting an old coffee shop that she used to frequent. Before she had come here with dozens of friends - however, everything was still so tense, and so she found herself standing in line by herself. After waiting a short moment, she had finally ordered the coffee then began to turn around. It was then had the blonde felt herself gently crashing in to another. “Shit!” She yelled out and pushed herself backward. “I’m so, so sorry! I should’ve been paying attention…” The words fell from her mouth before she even caught a glimpse of who it was before her. But as her light hues peered up, she almost choked on her own breath. - First loves were things that were supposed to be in the past, and for awhile that’s how it was… But what in all hell was he doing standing right in front of her? It was like a blast from the past, although she wouldn’t really consider it to be that great. “Mason…?” Not even worrying about the potential of coffee splashing on the person or anything else, Charlotte couldn’t focus on anything but him.
Time had stood still for a brief moment and a small part of her wanted to take the coffee and just chuck it at him. Not because she was mad, but because this couldn’t have been worse timing. Mason couldn’t see her like this… A runaway bride, going nowhere in life? She shouldn’t have cared about what he thought, but she did… It was who she was. “What… What are you…” She paused, trying to find the words. “I thought you were in London… At least that’s what someone told me.” God, why couldn’t he have stayed there? “What are you… Uh… Hi.” Hi? Really? God already she was fumbling. The girl who used to walk around with such confidence was no crumbling at the sight of someone she had prayed she’d never see again. Perhaps this was payback for breaking someone’s heart… Either way though, she was screaming on the inside and if she could, she would run straight for the exit and never look back. masonxreeves
