sometimes, there was no better place for haeyeon to go to think than an empty practice room at midas. she often found herself drawn to the peaceful quiet of the space, the way her shoes would squeak against the hardwood floor, the way she could examine her lines in the mirror to make sure she was hitting dance moves perfectly. it was a calming time for her to calculate her movements and make sure she never looked to be falling behind her group mates. over the years, she had established herself as a strong performer, seemingly coming alive on stage compared to her mysterious personality off stage. haeyeon often thought that if she didn’t have that redeeming quality of giving 100% on stage that she would have been dropped from jinx years ago.
it hadn’t always been the easiest for her to be an idol. haeyeon came in with an idealized idea of what being an idol would be like. once she debuted though, it was like all her hopes for this career path came crumbling down around her. she felt insanely out of place; she was a quiet girl trying to find some sort of way to fit in alongside the loud personalities around her. she constantly felt like she was pretending, at that was something she had never felt like before. at times, it could all get too much for her to handle, which is how she found herself isolating herself from others either in her dorm room or in a quiet studio room.
but then again, sometimes nothing needed to be wrong for her to be pulled into the empty room. and that night was no different. she sat on the floor, pulling her toe up to stretch out her legs, leaning over and bending her arm over her head to reach with both hands. she spent a good few minutes stretching to the best of her ability, relishing in the way she was beginning to feel the stress leave her body through the simple movements. standing up, haeyeon shook out her limbs and pressed play on her phone, l.i.e. playing through the speakers in the room. she had finished running through it one time and was looking in the mirror at the way her legs looked during one of the moves, wondering if her leg always looked that out of place in the choreo.
that was until one of the juniors from her company entered the room, breaking her concentration. she felt a bead of sweat roll down the back of her neck as she glanced up to the girl who came into the room. “goeun,” haeyeon said softly, a fond smile making it’s way onto her face at seeing her friend. “what are you doing here so late?”
